BUDGET GUIDE
Wedding Costs for 50, 100, and 200 Guests in HCMC
Real numbers from real weddings — what each guest-count tier actually costs at premium venues in Ho Chi Minh City.
One of the most frustrating aspects of wedding planning is the opacity of pricing. Venues quote per-table rates without mentioning service charges. Decorators provide estimates that don’t include installation labor. Photographers list packages that exclude the pre-wedding shoot. After producing hundreds of weddings across HCMC, we’ve compiled transparent cost breakdowns at three common guest counts — giving you a realistic picture of what a premium wedding actually costs in 2026.
50 GUESTS
The Intimate Celebration: 500M–900M VND
A 50-guest wedding in HCMC unlocks the most exclusive venue options and the highest per-person quality. At this scale, private dining rooms, boutique hotel gardens, and rooftop restaurants become viable — spaces that feel awkwardly empty with larger groups but perfectly curated at intimate scale.
Venue & Catering: 200M–400M VND. Private dining at five-star hotels runs 4–8M VND per person for a multi-course menu with premium beverage service. Boutique restaurants with buyout options range from 150M–250M for the full evening. Expect 10–15% service charge on top of quoted prices.
Decoration: 80M–150M VND. Smaller spaces require less volume but allow higher design density. A single statement installation — an overhead floral canopy or a dramatic ceremony arch — can define the entire aesthetic. Table arrangements for 5–6 tables allow for elaborate, architectural pieces rather than production-line centerpieces.
Photography, Music, Planning, and Details: 150M–300M VND. Photography and videography costs remain relatively fixed regardless of guest count (40M–80M for a premium team). A smaller celebration may use a curated playlist rather than a live band, freeing budget for elevated details like custom stationery, premium favors, and extended bar service.

At 50 guests, the per-person budget allows extraordinary quality across every category

The Mid-Size Celebration: 800M–1.5B VND
The 100-guest wedding is the sweet spot for many Viet Kieu couples — large enough to include extended family and close friends from both sides, but small enough to maintain a personal atmosphere and manageable budget. Most premium hotel ballrooms have a minimum that accommodates this scale comfortably.
Venue & Catering: 400M–700M VND. Five-star hotel banquet packages for 100 guests typically run 4–7M per person including house beverages. The most significant cost variable at this scale is the beverage package — upgrading from house wine to premium selections can add 50M–100M to the total.
Decoration: 120M–250M VND. Ten tables plus ceremony setup, entrance décor, and stage design. This is the budget range where decoration quality becomes visibly differentiated — the gap between a competent setup and a truly memorable design experience is often 80M–100M VND.
Photography, Music, Planning, and Details: 200M–400M VND. A live band becomes standard at this scale (30M–60M). Professional MC with bilingual capability runs 15M–25M. Wedding planning fees for full-service coordination at this level range from 50M–100M depending on scope.

The 100-guest tier is the sweet spot — personal enough for intimate moments, large enough for extended family
200 GUESTS
The Grand Celebration: 1.5B–3B+ VND
A 200-guest wedding is standard Vietnamese scale, and the budget range reflects both the volume of catering required and the larger venue spaces that need proportionally more decoration to feel cohesive rather than sparse.
Venue & Catering: 800M–1.5B VND. At 200 guests, venue selection narrows to larger hotel ballrooms and established event centers. Per-person catering at premium hotels runs 4–7.5M VND, and the sheer volume means this category dominates the budget. Service charges (typically 10–15%) add 80M–150M on top of the quoted package.
Decoration: 200M–500M VND. Twenty tables, a full stage design, entrance installation, ceremony setup, and cocktail area styling. At this scale, the decorator’s production team matters as much as their design capability — installing a 200-guest ballroom transformation typically requires a 15–20 person crew and 6–8 hours of setup time.
Photography, Music, Planning, and Details: 350M–600M VND. Two photography teams are recommended for comprehensive coverage at this scale. A full live band with professional sound engineering, bilingual MC, and lighting design for the dance floor are standard expectations. Planning fees scale with coordination complexity — managing 15+ vendors across a 200-guest event demands experienced day-of production management.

At 200+ guests, production team size and setup logistics become as important as design quality
SMART SAVINGS
Where to Optimize Without Compromising Quality
After reviewing hundreds of final wedding budgets, we’ve identified the areas where strategic decisions consistently save 15–25% without any visible quality reduction.
Date selection. Weekend premium at most HCMC hotels is 15–30% above weekday rates. A Thursday or Friday evening wedding at the same venue, with the same menu, costs significantly less. Similarly, rainy season dates (May–October) often come with promotional pricing.
Decoration focus. Rather than spreading a limited decoration budget evenly across every surface, concentrate investment on the 2–3 elements that photograph most dramatically: the ceremony backdrop, the main table installation, and the entrance. Guests notice focal points, not whether every corner has a floral accent.
Vendor bundling. Some decoration studios (including our team) offer integrated packages that include design, florals, and setup in a single quote — eliminating the markup that occurs when these elements are sourced separately. A wedding planner with established vendor relationships can also negotiate package rates that individual couples rarely access.
