Destination Wedding in Vietnam: Best Venues, Costs & Insider Tips

A venue-by-venue, region-by-region breakdown of what Vietnam’s top wedding locations actually cost — with honest numbers and local knowledge.

Vietnam has quietly become one of Southeast Asia’s most compelling wedding destinations — and not just for Vietnamese couples. The combination of world-class venues, talented local vendors, and costs that are a fraction of what you’d pay in the US, Australia, or Europe makes it genuinely hard to beat. This guide goes beyond the brochure — with real venue recommendations, honest cost ranges, and the insider knowledge that only comes from planning weddings here.

HO CHI MINH CITY

The Best Urban Wedding Venues

Saigon is the center of Vietnam’s wedding industry, and for good reason. The city offers the widest range of venues — from five-star hotel ballrooms to converted colonial villas, rooftop gardens, and intimate private dining rooms.

Five-star hotels (Park Hyatt, Capella, The Reverie, Hotel des Arts) offer seamless service, in-house catering, and dedicated event teams. Expect to pay 800 million to 1.5 billion VND for a 200-guest reception including F&B, basic décor, and AV setup. The advantage: one point of contact for everything logistical.

Saigon’s five-star hotels deliver polish, infrastructure, and peace of mind — at a premium

Restaurants and independent venues (GEM Center, Adora, White Palace, Riverside Palace) offer more flexibility on decoration and typically cost 400–700 million VND for a comparable guest count. You’ll need to bring your own decorator and often your own MC, but the creative freedom is worth it for couples with a specific vision.

Coastal Resort Venues

The central coast is Vietnam’s answer to Bali — dramatic coastline, five-star resorts, and a more relaxed pace that lends itself naturally to destination celebrations. Da Nang and Hoi An are close enough to combine (30 minutes apart) but distinct enough to offer different vibes.

Central Vietnam offers the perfect blend of luxury resorts and natural beauty

Da Nang resorts (InterContinental, Hyatt Regency, Naman Retreat) specialize in beachfront and garden ceremonies. A 100-guest resort wedding typically costs 350–600 million VND depending on the season and package. Wet season (October–December) brings lower rates but weather risk.

Hoi An venues (Four Seasons The Nam Hai, Victoria Resort, boutique villas) tend to attract smaller, more intimate weddings. The ancient town backdrop creates unforgettable photo opportunities. Budget 300–500 million VND for a 50–80 guest celebration.

REAL COSTS

What a Vietnam Wedding Actually Costs

Let’s break down the numbers honestly. A Vietnam destination wedding falls into three tiers, and where you land depends on your guest count, venue choice, and how much you want to customize.

Essential tier (150–350M VND / $6,000–14,000 USD): 50–80 guests, restaurant venue, professional decoration, photographer, MC. Clean and beautiful, but within a defined package. Works well for couples who want quality without over-engineering every detail.

Even at the essential tier, Vietnamese wedding vendors deliver remarkable quality

Premium tier (400–800M VND / $16,000–32,000 USD): 100–200 guests, hotel or upscale venue, custom decoration, full photography + videography team, live music or DJ. This is where most Viet Kieu couples land — enough budget for personalization without excess.

Luxury tier (1B+ VND / $40,000+ USD): 200+ guests or highly bespoke design, five-star venue, imported florals, international photographer, multi-day celebrations. The ceiling here is as high as you want it to be.

INSIDER TIPS

What the Brochures Don’t Tell You

Book your venue 8–10 months out for peak season (November–March). Vietnamese New Year (Tết) in late January/February is a blackout period — avoid it entirely unless you want to compete with every family reunion in the country for vendor availability.

Timing your booking right is one of the simplest ways to get better rates and vendor availability

Negotiate the F&B minimum, not the room fee. Most venues in Vietnam bundle the event space into a per-table or per-head food minimum. The room itself is rarely a separate line item. Focus your negotiation on the per-head cost and what’s included (drinks, cake cutting, audio equipment).

Ask about corkage and outside vendor fees. Some hotels charge a significant fee if you bring external vendors (decorator, photographer, cake). Know this upfront — it can add 10–15% to your budget. Independent venues are typically more flexible.

Factor in the “guest gift” culture. Vietnamese weddings traditionally include monetary gifts from guests that offset a meaningful portion of the cost. For Viet Kieu celebrations with Vietnamese guests, this tradition still holds — though you should never plan your budget counting on gift revenue.

MAKING YOUR CHOICE

How to Decide

The right venue for your wedding comes down to three questions: How many guests are you hosting? What atmosphere do you want? And how hands-on do you want to be with logistics?

Happy couple at their destination wedding

The right venue choice makes everything else — vendors, timeline, budget — fall into place

If you’re coordinating from overseas and want minimal friction, a five-star hotel with an in-house event team is the safest bet. If you want creative control and a more personalized experience, an independent venue paired with a strong planner gives you more room to build something truly custom.

Whatever you choose, visit in person at least once before committing. Photos and virtual tours are helpful — but walking through a space, feeling the energy, and meeting the people who will execute your vision is irreplaceable.
